The Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks were charter members of the World League of American Football (WLAF) established in 1991. The team went 0-10 and was dissolved after one season. They were replaced in 1992 by the Ohio Glory. After the 1992, the NFL, who ran the WLAF as a developmental league in the spring, folded the operation. It returned in 1995 as NFL Europe with no teams based in North America.
