Norfolk Neptunes

The Norfolk Neptunes played in the Continental Football League (CoFL) from 1966 to 1969 and the Atlantic Coast Football League (ACFL) in 1970 and 1971. Their home was??Foreman Field??on the campus of??Old Dominion University??in Norfolk. The Neptunes were one of the most successful minor league football leagues of all time, both at the gate and on the field. They regularly drew over 13,000 fans a game and won the 1971 ACFL Championship. Their most famous player was probably former University of Maryland and Boston Patriots QB King Corcoran. He previously played for the Pottstown Firebirds and later played for the Philadelphia Bell of the World Football League.
