Pipers was the original nickname of Pittsburgh's American Basketball Association team. They began play in 1967, the league's inaugural season. After winning the league's first-ever championship, they moved to Minnesota, then moved back to Pittsburgh the following year. A year later they were the Pittsburgh Condors. The team folded in 1972.
