"I thought Cincinnati was in Ohio?" The Greater Cincinnati Airport opened in 1947 in Boone County, Kentucky. In the 1990s, the name was changed to the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport. Cincinnati has the distinction of being the only major U.S. city whose main commercial airport is in a neighboring state.??
