"The Trop" opened in 1990 as the Suncoast Dome in St. Petersburg, Florida. The facility didn't have a permanent tenant until 1991 when the Arena League Tampa Bay Storm moved in. Two years later, the area's pro hockey team moved in. In 1998, big league baseball arrived.
