The Kingdome

The Kingdome was planned as far back as the late 60's as part of the effort to bring Major League Baseball to Seattle. In 1969, the Pilots came and went after one season, playing at old Sick's Stadium as plans for the dome stalled. Ground was finally broken in 1972 paving the way for the city to be awarded another baseball team, the Mariners, as well as an NFL team, the Seahawks. The NBA SuperSonics also played there for a time, as did the old NASL Seattle Sounders.
