The San Antonio Dragons played in the International Hockey League (IHL) from 1996 to 1998. They were established in 1982 as the Peoria Prancers. In 1984 they (wisely) changed their name to the Rivermen. A new version of the Rivermen plays in the Southern Professional Hockey League. San Antonio is currently without pro hockey.
