The Hurricane played in the original North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1978 to 1980. Their home pitch was the Astrodome.?? In the winter, the team moonlighted as the Houston Summit of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Both teams played to small crowds with the Hurricane folding in 1980 and the Summit, that same year, moving to Baltimore where they found great success on the pitch and at the gate as the Blast.
