Fizzies were a drink tablet that, as the name suggested, fizzed when placed in water. They were developed by the Emerson Drug Company, based on the same technology that Bromo Seltzer and similar products. Fizzies, though, came in fun flavors and were popular through then1960s when the FDA banned the use of the products main sweetener, cyclamates. They were re-introduced in the 1990s, but never achieved the same level of success.Â
