Dallas Texans 1960

Thwarted in his attempt to buy and move pro football's Cardinals to Dallas, and later denied an expansion team for his hometown, Dallas oil heir Lamar Hunt formed his own league which began play in 1960. His team was the Dallas Texans (a name used by a short-lived team in the established league in 1952) and they competed for the city's fans with the older league's Cowboys who also hit the field for the first time in 1960. Hunt's team, though successful on the field, lost the battle at the gate and moved to Kansas City in 1963. OS9645
