The Dallas-Ft. Worth Spurs were members of the AA Texas League from 1965 until 1971, when the Washington Senators moved to the Lone Star State. The Spurs played their home games at Turnpike Stadium. Named after a nearby freeway, the capacity of the ballpark was 10,000. It was designed, though, to be expanded should a major league team come to town. The area tried wooing several teams, including the Cleveland Indians. However, it was the second incarnation of the Senators that finally made the move. After being expanded to major league specs, Turnpike Stadium became Arlington Stadium.
