Remember Cleveland's only NHL team? The Barons began as the Oakland Seals in 1967, later becoming the California Seals. In 1976, the team moved to Cleveland and took the name of the city's old beloved American Hockey League team, the Barons. They played their home games at the Coliseum in Richfield. Oddly, the arrival of the new Barons meant the end of the WHA's Crusaders in town, the team that had driven the AHL Barons out a few years earlier.
