WTAM 1100 began broadcasting in 1923 from Cleveland. Over the years the station would also be known as KYW, WKYC, and from 1972 to 1996, WWWE, or 3WE. It was during the 3WE years that the station broadcast the Cleveland Cavaliers Miracle at Richfield, season in 1974, Lenny Barker's no hitter in 1981, and was the home of Pete Franklin's Sportsline call-in program. An ownership change in 1996 brought back the original call letters which are still in use today. However, for Cleveland area radio listeners growing up in the '70s and '80s, 1100 will always be 3WE.
