Founded in 1972, the Los Angeles Sharks were charter members of the World Hockey Association (WHA). The team was originally going to be called the Aces, but when the San Francisco Sharks were transferred to Quebec to become the Nordiques before the start of the first season, the L.A. franchise took the name. After two years in L.A., the team moved to Michigan and became the Stags, before moving to Baltimorea year later where they were renamed the Blades.????
