Pipers was the original nickname of Pittsburgh's American Basketball Association team. They began play in 1967, the league's inaugural season. After winning the championship, they moved to Minnesota, then moved back to Pittsburgh the following year. A year later they were the Pittsburgh Condors. The team folded in 1972.
