The Michigan Panthers played for two seasons in the United States Football League (USFL). They captured the league's first championship in 1983 and drew over 32,000 fans per game to the old Pontiac Silverdome the following season. Among the team's stars were QB Bobby Hebert, WR Anthony Carter, and RB Ken Lacy. However, when it became apparent the league was going to switch to a fall schedule for the 1986 season, a plan Panthers owner A.
